Where it all started! The Thele Family Roots
Our ancestors settled in Cape Girardeau when they first came to the US.
William Thele and Catherine Vandeven both came here separately and settled in Missouri. The area is very similar to the farmlands of Germany. Many German families had already settled in the area and wrote home about the area and great opportunities there. So they came with some of their families as well. We expect to explore some of the German heritage when we attend the 2025 reunion!
The Miksch family arrived and settled in Columbus, Nebraska first.
Louis Thele and Anna Miksch both ended up in Perry, OK which is where they met, married, and raised their family. They did move around some as the older children were born Ponca City, Ok or Coffeeville, KS.
